Featured at X-Posed on the High Line in Chelsea, New York, Utopia was my first site-specific installation. The piece utilizes multi-projector video installation that intersects with elongated, translucent silk scroll paintings suspended like architectural shades. This layering of physical painting and digital video results in a surreal environment where spectators experience complex dimensions of depth and cognitive perception. The silk pieces derive their imagery from tree canopy shadows, juxtaposed against video sequences recorded during walks across New Mexico. Through these interwoven elements, the project bridges nature and abstraction, employing a non-linear framework to construct a fantastic landscape that invites the viewer to dream beyond current existence.
