Documenting myself, my environment, and my creative processes has always been a vital, multi-staged component of my artistic practice. Beginning with self-portraits, I later transitioned into street photography while studying in Dresden, a former part of East Germany. In New York during the events of September 11, my documentary focus shifted to media, deconstructing concepts of female identity—a trajectory that explains my current impulse to capture my art processes directly on the land.

Created between 2012 and 2016 during a transitional journey from New York City to rural New Mexico, the photographic series The Definition of Abundance captures unmanipulated, close-up glimpses of urban glamour, art fairs, and window reflections. Within these images, I play with scale, dimension, and color to engage the physiological capabilities of the human eye. This specific body of work radically altered my practice as a painter, serving as the bridge from black-and-white work into colorful abstractions. Building on this, I have since appropriated my own Kodak prints, transforming my historical imagery to generate multiple, layered outcomes in how we perceive reality.
